To cancel Spotify Premium, sign in at spotify.com in a browser, open Account, then Manage your plan, and choose Cancel Premium. You cannot cancel from inside the iPhone app. If you subscribed through Apple or a phone carrier, you cancel in that company’s settings instead, not on Spotify.

What Spotify Premium costs per year

How the charge shows on a statement

If you pay Spotify directly, the line usually reads as Spotify or Spotify AB, sometimes with a Stockholm reference since the company is Swedish. That part is easy.

The confusing case is when you signed up on an iPhone or iPad. Then Spotify is billed through Apple, and the charge can appear as Apple.com or iTunes with no mention of Spotify at all. A phone-carrier bundle is the same story: it can be folded into your mobile bill under the carrier’s name. So if you see a recurring debit you do not recognise and the word Spotify is nowhere on it, check your Apple subscriptions and your phone bill before assuming it is something else.

Cancel on the web account

If your statement shows the charge as Apple or iTunes, cancel through Apple:

Cancel on Android or Google Play

If you are not sure which route you used, the spotify.com account page tells you who manages your billing. Whatever the route, cancelling stops the next charge but does not close your Spotify account. At the end of the period you already paid for, the account simply reverts to the free tier and keeps your playlists.

Downgrade to free instead of cancelling?
