Which format is most accurate?

How do I know the statement is complete?

One check gives certainty: opening balance plus all movements must equal the closing balance. If it matches to the cent, every number from that file is trustworthy. If not, lines are missing and any average is wrong.

What should I look for?

Transfers between your own accounts. Moving money from savings to current is neither income nor spending. Counted wrongly, both totals inflate and the savings rate comes out wrong.

Recurring payments. The same amount at the same interval is a subscription, even when the merchant name means nothing to you. Those unrecognisable names are the most commonly forgotten services.

Fees without their own line. A currency conversion markup is not shown as a fee — it is baked into the transaction amount. You only find it by comparing with the reference rate on the day.

Do I have to give the bank credentials?
