How to analyze your Danske Bank statement and find the hidden fees

A Danske Bank current account handles a lot in the background, and most of it never makes a sound. A monthly account package fee here, a slide into overtræk (overdraft) there, a handful of MobilePay transfers to friends and Betalingsservice payments to suppliers: it all blends into a long list of transactions that almost nobody reads to the end. Your Danske Bank statement is the one place where every krone is written down in black and white.
That is exactly where the money hides. Not in the big, obvious purchases, but in the small recurring charges and fees you stopped noticing months ago. The good news: you can hand that statement to VESTELON FLOW and have it read every line for you, with no bank login required.
How to export your Danske Bank statement
You do not need to connect FLOW to your bank or hand over your MitID. You only need the file Danske Bank already lets you download.
- Log on to Danske Netbank, or open the Mobilbank DK app, and select the account you want to review.
- Go to Kontooversigt (Account overview) for that account.
- Choose the period you want to review. Netbank keeps roughly 14 to 25 months of movements available directly on the account page.
- Select "Gem som fil" (Save as file) and choose PDF, XLSX or CSV. In the mobile app, tap "Eksporter kontobevægelser" (Export account movements) instead.
- Upload that single file to FLOW. That is the only thing you share, no login, no read access to your account.
One downloaded file is enough. FLOW reads the statement, not your bank. The statement you already own is all it needs to find what the everyday flow of MobilePay transfers and card payments makes easy to miss.
Once you have your file saved from Netbank or Mobilbank DK, take a moment to look at how the entries are laid out. Amounts are shown in Danish kroner, peer-to-peer transfers usually arrive labelled as MobilePay, and recurring bills such as insurance, rent and utilities are collected through Betalingsservice, the direct debit scheme Nets has run in Denmark since 1974 and that roughly nineteen out of twenty Danish households still use to pay their regular bills. That payments infrastructure is no accident: Danske Bank itself built MobilePay in a six-month development sprint and launched it on 7 May 2013, a service so quickly adopted that Danes voted it their Word of the Year in 2014, and every bank in the country has connected to it since 2017. Danske Bank's own history runs deeper still, founded in 1871 as Den Danske Landmandsbank and still Denmark's largest bank today. When you upload your statement to VESTELON FLOW, Danish kroner amounts and these local payment types are recognised automatically, so FLOW sorts each transaction into a category for you, and you can adjust anything.

Where money quietly leaks on a Danske Bank account
A full-service bank gives you plenty of useful things, and a few quiet costs that ride along with them. With Danske Bank, a handful of specific patterns tend to drain accounts without anyone really noticing:
- An account package fee sitting in the wrong tier. Danske Bank's customer programme prices the Hverdag+ account package by how much business you have with the bank: 49 kr. a month on Danske Basis, dropping to 39 kr. on Danske Ekstra, 9 kr. on Danske Eksklusiv, and free on Danske Eksklusiv+. If your savings, pension or mortgage have moved elsewhere since you were last placed in a tier, you may be paying more for Hverdag+ than your actual relationship with the bank now justifies.
- Overtræk (overdraft) interest. Slipping into overdraft, even by a little and even for a few days, carries interest. Do it most months and the cost adds up far faster than it feels.
- Foreign currency and ATM-abroad fees. Card payments and cash withdrawals outside Denmark can carry a currency mark-up on top of the exchange rate. A holiday or a few overseas online orders can quietly stack these up.
- Forgotten MobilePay and Betalingsservice commitments. Streaming, apps, the gym, a recurring MobilePay payment to a club or a friend, that one trial you forgot to cancel. Your statement lists them all, but the list grows faster than anyone reviews it.
Here is an illustrative picture of how those small lines add up. These are example amounts to show the shape of the problem, not real figures from any account.
| Quiet leak | Example monthly cost | Example yearly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Account package fee above your actual tier | 40 kr. | 480 kr. |
| Overtræk interest most months | 90 kr. | 1,080 kr. |
| Forgotten MobilePay and streaming subscriptions | 130 kr. | 1,560 kr. |
| Foreign currency and ATM-abroad fees | 45 kr. | 540 kr. |
| Total | 305 kr. | 3,660 kr. |
None of those lines feels big on its own. Together, they are a weekend away you did not take.
What FLOW finds in your Danske Bank statement
Upload the file and FLOW does the line-by-line reading you never have time for. From a single Danske Bank statement it surfaces:
- Every recurring charge and subscription, including MobilePay payments and Betalingsservice debits buried between everyday card purchases.
- The yearly cost of fees, so a small monthly number becomes the real annual figure you are actually paying.
- Your top leaks, ranked, from the biggest drain down, so you know exactly where to look first.
- What to review first, a clear shortlist instead of a vague feeling that you are wasting money somewhere.
It is not about shaming your spending. It is about seeing it clearly, once, so you can decide on purpose instead of on autopilot. Upload your statement to VESTELON FLOW and see what your account is really costing you, free.
Turn the leaks into a plan
Finding the leaks is only useful if you act on them. Once FLOW ranks your charges, the next steps are simple.
- Cancel the obvious dead weight first. The MobilePay subscription or trial you forgot you had is the easiest win on the list.
- Check your customer programme tier. If Hverdag+ is priced higher than your current savings, pension or loans with Danske Bank would suggest, ask the bank to reassess where you sit.
- Plan around overtræk. Knowing which days you slip into the red lets you move a payment or a Betalingsservice debit and stop the interest before it starts.
- Redirect what you recover. Every krone you stop wasting can go straight into savings or paying down debt.
FAQ
Do I need to give FLOW my MitID or Netbank login? No. FLOW only reads the PDF, XLSX or CSV file you export yourself from Netbank or Mobilbank DK. There is no login, no token and no ongoing access to your account.
Does FLOW work with statements in Danish? Yes. Danish kroner amounts, MobilePay transfers and Betalingsservice debits are recognised automatically, so there is nothing to translate before uploading.
How much history should I upload? Three to six months is usually enough to see recurring patterns clearly. Netbank lets you export roughly 14 to 25 months directly if you want a longer view.
Does this only work for Danske Bank customers in Denmark? The export steps described here are for the Danish Netbank and Mobilbank DK apps. Danske Bank also operates in Finland, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the Baltics, and FLOW reads statements from any of them the same way, one uploaded file at a time.
